Blake: You’re completely right, escaping input strings ruins sql injection, but I know plenty of websites that don’t validate all their inputs. I can think of one ASU website right now that is vulnerable to sql injection.

And Dan, yeah I should probably fix that, haha. I’ll update it with some more content soon.

Sounds kinda cool, except SQL injection is a complete non-issue now because of ONE PHP function: mysql_real_escape_string(). Use it on any user input that might be in an SQL query and injections are impossible…that’s like a 1 minute lecture though.

$statement = “SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = ‘”.mysql_real_escape_string($user_input).”‘”;
